Definition

  • The substance of the instrument itself, owing to its solidity and elasticity, vibrates and radiates sound. A lamella, i.e. elastic plaque, fixed at one end, is flexed and then released to return to its position of rest. The lamella is mounted in a rod- or plaque-shaped frame and depends on the player's mouth cavity for resonance. Trumps (also known as jew's harps). (en)
